Supporting opioid management
When a TAC client is prescribed prolonged or high doses of opioids or other high-risk medications, we will request information from the client's GP.
Thank you for your dedicated work to support TAC clients.
Like you, we are committed to ensuring our clients remain safe during their recovery journey. That is why we seek to make informed decisions about their medications – particularly when these are opioids or other high-risk medications.
When we see prolonged or high doses of these medications, we will request information from the client’s GP. This allows us to identify clients who may be at risk, make ongoing claims decisions and offer support to medical practitioners treating TAC clients.
The GP will be asked to complete a short form, either the
- TAC Opioid Safety Check (three brief questions) or
- TAC Opioid Management Plan (an estimated 10-15 minutes to complete)
The form is only needed when we request it. The GP can invoice us for completion of the form, as well as for a consultation if completed with the client.
